Mother's Day 2016

Day's like Mother's Day have become a much different experience over the last year or so. With the exception of dad having to leave early for work, it was a really fun day of spending time together, being sweet to mom, and going out to eat.

Soccer Season

We were so excited for Aidan and Noah to play soccer this season. Aidan loves soccer! It was a really great experience for him. He got to have to practices and a game each week. The win for mom and dad was that practice was right across the street from the house. Another fun perk was all the friends he had from school that were on his team. 

Noah was slightly less excited about soccer than Aidan, but end the end he had a great time. After a couple of games struggling to keep him on the field, we bribed him with a snow cone if he scored a goal, and it worked! Once he knocked his first one in, he had a completely different experience. It ended up being a really fun season for him and he made a really good little friend who lives down the street from us and will be in Kindergarten with him. 

The Rainiest Spring in the History of Austin

Spring time in Austin this year has pretty much been one continuous rain storm. These two can only be contained inside the house for so many days before they run the risk of spontaneous combustion due to increased energy levels. So a chance to get out and play in the rain and puddles was cause for excessive celebration.

Noah is much more of a splash pad kid than a pool kid. He was convinced that mom and dad had made him his own splash pad in the back yard, so he was very pleased with this development.

Easter 2016

We had a really fun time celebrating Easter this year. We knew it was going to be a good day when the kids were completely willing to take dozens of picture in the front yard!

Our kids are 100% ministers kid's. They know all about the Bible class story of why we celebrate Easter. They can tell you about the betrayal, the mock trial, the death, burial, and resurrection. They know that Easter is about that special Sunday that Jesus walked back through the tomb. They know it all so well that when we say its Easter, they start making their own Easter art. 

And then came the Easter Egg hunt! We have this great little park just across the street that is perfect for hiding eggs. The kids found more than 60 eggs in about 3 minutes. Dad has committed to spending the next year improving his egg hiding game.

It was a great Easter weekend from start to finish. So, happy spring from our kiddos to you.

Western Day

Noah was super excited for Western Day this year! What's funny is that the thing he was most excited about was wearing his boots...which he wears to school every other day of the year. But at least he was excited!

There was a special vibe in the air for Western Day this time around and everyone had a ton of fun. We ate dogs, played games, and generally did as little school as possible- it was a perfect day!

Just like his dad...only more talented

Noah has loved church and Bible class for a couple of years now. When he was two he wanted his own Bible class set up so he could play teacher at home. We really expected that to be something he grew out of. Well, he hasn't. But his style has evolved. He's graduated from teaching the baby class to preaching and leading worship.

Spring time in ATX

We like where we live for several reasons. One of the biggest is that we can drive 20 minutes and be hiking a beautiful creek and having a fun family adventure. To be fair, our family "hikes" usually only cover somewhere around a mile, but when you have tiny little legs like Noah, a mile is a long way.

Dad said he needed to teach Aidan to skip rocks. Really he just wanted to goof around and play. However, Aidan did pick up on Dad's technique and skipped his very first rock!

It was a warm 80 degrees when we took our trip, but the water was still cool. The kids were all excited to be able to cross the creek all by themselves. And by a stroke of luck, none of them fell in.

We found all sorts of cool things on our walk. Caves, waterfalls, mud puddles, and more. Some days, having a handful of little kids is stressful. But then there are days like this, where everything really is sunny and good.
