36/37 Week Check Up

So what is one of the worst things a pregnant woman of 37 weeks can be told at her appointment. "We are changing your due date to one week later." I am 50% effaced but am not dialated at all. So my doctor says he thinks he got the due date wrong. What is frustrating to me is that I have been telling him this all along but he always disagreed with me. I would double check with all the time and say "are you sure it isn't the 21st.?" I would ask a lot because my parents were trying to figure out when to fly in from Kansas. Right now they are scheduled to arrive on Saturday the 13th which my doctor originally told us they would for sure get to meet her because he would schedule an induction on the 15th. Of course the most important thing is that she is healthy and she is. If she is due the 21st and comes when Aidan did, she would still be born before they were here. So anyway I am anxious to see how it all unravels.

Checklist

I am now 36 weeks along which puts me one week until I am considered full term. I have been having A LOT of contractions this week. All practice contractions I'm sure but it still makes me nervous. With Aidan coming at 38 weeks we are guessing Ryla will come about the same time but we will see. To finish off the "nesting" mode in pre mommy hood, I believe I have finished my checklist. It makes me feel good to finally have it done. Now all we need is to meet our precious little one.

Hair Doodles

So I feel I have finally made the final step in preparing for a little girl. I have never been a big fan of pink or of the hair doodles you often see on babies. I think this is one of the reasons I am scared to have a little girl of my own. I don't like girly things and so in order to embrace the fact that I need to start.....I painted her room pink and broke down and went and got some things for her hair today. Just as I thought....everything was pink and no reds or purples. I will have to look around a little more. But this is what I found to start her off.

35 week check up

Cliff, Aidan and I went our for my 35 week check up this morning. Happy to report that Ryla is very healthy and doing very well. Her heartbeat is strong, I gained the exact amount of weight my doc likes, and am even measuring small. So I was very excited. On a sad note for Cliff and I.....Dr. Maughn informed us this morning that he will be gone October 30th- November 14th. I'm due November 14th but we are expecting her to come a little early because Aidan did. Either way....It will be most likely that he will not be able to deliver her. We have become very attached to Dr. Maughn so we were pretty disappointed but know that the important thing is that the baby is healthy. If she does not come early...we are looking at an induction date of November 15th. I would rather she come naturally but there are 2 very good things about being induced. One would be that I would get to have Dr. Maughn and the other being that my parents would be here for her delivery, so that would be nice. I go back in two weeks and he will be checking to see if I have dialated.

Name Reveal

Well with the nursery almost finished it would be hard to keep her name a secret any longer....So here it is. Ryla Elizabeth Mullen. Named after two of my favorite women. My best friend Ryla Rowedder and my sister-in-law Elizabeth Sears. I will post pics of the finished nursery next week.

Mobius Museum

About a month ago we got Aidan a year pass to the Mobius Children's Museum downtown. We thought it would be a great way to escape the house during those winter months when we can't get to the park. He has gone 3 times now and has absolutely loved it! The museum is all interactive. There are several things that he is still too young for but he never seems bored when we go. Last Wednesday we were able to go as a family since Cliff has recently changed his hours around with me being at home. Here are some pics of our morning.
